Straight women and gay men: comrades in arms, sure. But how much do other parts of their bodies have in common? Future Method decided to find out, with a focus on (what else) butt play.

A recent survey of over 600 American gay men (a mix of top, bottoms and vers) and straight women helped get to the bottom of what each community does with their bottoms. Whether you expected things to be completely different-or virtually the same-you won’t be disappointed.

Here are the highlights of what the survey uncovered:

Gay men bottom way more often

And while both sexes agree cleanliness is a must…

…women prepare to bottom less often than guys

Preparation happens the same way, guy or girl

But condom use is very different

But opinions on the use of toys (or the lack of them) seem more in agreement

It turns out, when it comes to butt play, gay men are definitely from Venus and straight women Mars. How did you compare?

It’s our mission to make worry-free fun attainable, starting with the right products and education for all. Part of that mission is understanding the our differences (and similarities) in the way we play.
